Welcome to Recipes From The Heart!
Are you thinking about making bread?
My blog of October 2021 has pictures of an even easier bread recipe. You can start one evening, let it rise overnight, bake it in the morning, and eat it for lunch.
Being quarantined because of the covid-19 virus has made me think back to old favorites such as baking bread. Yes, the whole process of making bread takes time measured in hours, but you are not at work on it all that time. Think about it as a drama in three acts with intermissions in between.
I'm Ruth Ann, and I don't like to cook, but I like to make things taste good. I like to see people happy together, eating good food. I want other people to be able to experience that.
Some people like to spend a lot of time fiddling around in the kitchen, and that's not me. I want to make good food for my family with a minimum of effort, and then spend time with my husband. I am basically an outdoors person, so I let my gardening support my cooking. I imagine an audience as I write my blogs. I imagine novice cooks and experienced cooks looking for ways to simplify or to enhance their cooking. If you are on your own, beginning to cook for yourself or for others, this website is for you. Welcome. I had the idea to make videos with me cooking, and my granddaughters and neighbor convinced me to start a blog. My granddaughters helped me make this website and help me film the videos. I post things from various cookbooks and family recipes as well as recipes from my friends.. I will post different techniques, videos of me making food, and ingredient substitutions. Some of the techniques come from cookbooks and some of them are mine. I have favorite cookbooks, some recent, and some from 50 years ago, or more. Older cookbooks tend to have a different style of explanations. You can see a list of my cookbooks under the tab "cookbooks." You may be wondering why the picture at the top is gushing water through the rocks. It is like this because my younger granddaughter decided it tied all the colors together. I would like to thank everybody who helped me get this site up and running, as well as the people who help me manage and publicize it. Happy Cooking! ~Ruth Ann |
"You don't have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces - just good food from fresh ingredients.” Knitting is another of my interests. I invite you to look at my website that explains the four basic steps in learning to knit.
